I had no idea I would enjoy reading a combination of a really butch manly man gay military romance book like Her Majesty's Men by Marquesate mixed with your typical gay werewolf romance like Without Reservations by J.L. Langley but Kendall McKenna managed to pull it off nicely.Now this story is in no way flawless. There are issues... I was more than ready to strangle Noah and his "famous werewolf moments in history" that was used as an excuse for misunderstandings to the point of distraction. Not to mention the utter failure of someone supposedly 4.0 large and in charge like Lieutenant Lucas to look up the whole "werewolf sexuality and you" deal. You are trying to tell me it never once crossed his mind to check on all that "werewolf mate" stuff when he was becoming more and more sexually involved? Even after half way through the book when they are so connected that they are supposedly reading each others minds so... Really? You are going to keep re-using the fact he never says what is going on out loud as a plot device for why the main characters keep going around and around in perpetual angst? The logic, it burns!But... besides all those heavy handed blunders I still continue to love and re-read this book all the time. In fact the first book of the series here with both the romantic partners being Marines and it being more "life in the military" focused was the most unique and appealing out of all the other books in this series that somehow manage to wander off in other directions and less interesting pairings for some reason. I just do not understand if you have a perfectly good formula why fix something that aint broke? This story stays simple and straight forward and the romance ends up sweet so give it a shot. Shifters are my go to comfort read. They're what I turn to when I need to totally lose myself. So I've read a lot. And a lot of good ones but this one just blew me away. I fell totally and completely under Lucas and Noah's spell. I loved their connection and their bond. I loved that their weren't a typical shifter couple. I loved that although Noah was the True Alpha, he needed Lucas as his Dominant. I loved seeing Lucas caring for Lucas every time they returned from the full moon run. There's no doubt that these guys were sexy as h*'ll but their bond went so far beyond sex. Their bond went so deep. I loved how they shared feelings through their bond and how Noah needed Lucas's touch and scent and how he was desperate for Lucas to mark him. The biting was probably the sexiest thing about them. I really don't know what else to say. I just loved everything about this book.
